Appco empowers adolescents
Appco Malaysia and IKEA Malaysia join forces for UNICEF campaign
January 4, 2012
Appco Malaysia recently collaborated with IKEA Malaysia to ro
ll out UNICEF’s “The State of the World’s Children 2011” campaign alongside the “YES! I want to be a champion for children” petition campaign.
IKEA Malaysia sponsored floor space at their venue to allow for the fundraising and awareness campaign currently rolled out by Appco Malaysia for the last quarter of 2011.
The latest campaign from UNICEF focuses on adolescents who are disadvantaged and marginalized, and works to protect their rights especially in conflict, post-conflict and emergency situations.
“Adolescence is a challenging and vulnerable phase of life between 10 to 19 years of age when children have to deal with profound physical, emotional, sexual and social changes,” says Hans Olsen, UNICEF Representative, Malaysia.
UNICEF’s ultimate goal is to nurture healthy, literate, economically independent and engaged adults. UNICEF will capitalize on its existing partnerships with government bodies, private organizations and cultivate new coalitions to help support young people.
“With our partners, we are ready to make that investment and seize the opportunity,” says Mr Olsen.
The campaign has proved to be a huge success with more than 600 new donors signed up and significant funds raised for UNICEF with the help of IKEA Malaysia. More than 7000 “Champion for Children” signatures were also received.
Part of the campaign also involved a survey for adolescents to fill out which allows UNICEF to collect data, which will later be used by not only themselves but the affiliated bodies within the Malaysian government for development purposes.
Due to the huge success of the campaign, IKEA Malaysia is set to feature the campaign in the next issue of the ONE Ikea Magazine, a bi-monthly publication by IKEA that is distributed to their customer base throughout Malaysia.
Room to grow for Asia
Asia’s new headquarters in Malaysia will allow Appco to grow in that region
October 6, 2011
Everyone thought it was a joke to be moving to a new office location on the 1st of April – a day infamously known for pranks and tom foolery. But Appco Group Malaysia, shifted locations to a new high tech office building.
Spanning 12000 square meters and sitting on the 18th floor of one of Kuala Lumpur’s most modern addresses, the new Appco Group Asia headquarters is the biggest in the region.
Designed by a top notch interior design firm in the city of Kuala Lumpur, the new “open concept” office layout encourages interaction and fluidity of motion.
Appropriately themed following the corporate colors of red, white and black, the reception area is a clever play on everything Appco. From the bubble shaped receptionist desk, to the red, white and black colour blocking from floor to ceiling, this new office is a reflection on the direction of growth, progress and fun that is Appco Group Malaysia.
Executive Director James Greaves said: “We believe our new head office is representative of us as a company, professional, smart, lively and colourful. We’ve built it as a hub for the whole of the South East Asian region. My favourite room is the breakout area where we all congregate at lunch or break times. It’s right in the middle of floor and is designed to bring everyone together.
”The breakout area also doubles as a meeting area with a cleverly hidden white board and a mixture of high and low tables. A large LCD screen television is also installed to provide meal time entertainment.
“Everybody loves this new office,” added James. “We’ve all been working in an office with less desks than people so to move into so much available space has been an amazing change for everyone.”
